In my (what used to be) little town, house building wnet crazy over the last few years. And now every third house or so, is empty, the lawns are dead and there is a real estate sign in from that says "bank owned". I was grateful for Bush's tax cuts. One of the few things he did right. So it wasn't removing restrictions, strictly speaking it was giving the big banks the opportunity to give subprime loans to those that couldn't pay for them.
