10,000 Dead, Maybe More

As we debate the attributes of Comet Holmes, thousands are struggling to stay alive in Bangladesh. Hurricane Sidr came ashore and raged havoc with the poor and vulnerable. Cyclone Sidr, which struck late on Thursday, brought winds of up to 240km/h (150mph) and a tidal surge of several metres. They also report that some 500,000 homes have been destroyed. Shrimp farms and rice fields have been obliterated. People have already started to starve. Who knows what disease and pestilence will take more life in the coming weeks. This cyclone, as they are called in this part of the world, came after days of flooding in the country.
So as we sit comfortably in our homes tonight, let's give some thought to the thousands who have lost loved ones to this devistation and even more that are hungry and without shelter in Bangladesh.

Tragic I know but partly as a result of too many people so the poor have to live where disasters are a certainty. Number one priority for humans should be to reduce their numbers and live in balance with the other species. www.esotericarts.org
